Pacquiao Wins!
Another stellar performance from Manny Pacquiao. Pacquiao beat Miguel Cotto of Puerto Rico in a 12th round TKO. Pacquiao's win tonight makes this his 7th world title in yet another weight class.
At the beginning, I was worried that Cotto had the advantage. By default, most Puerto Ricans are pretty good boxers. Second, Cotto is the champion of his weight class. Third, Cotto is bigger and taller. But, I should probably know better and I shouldn't underestimate Pacquiao. He's quite the technician in the ring. His whole body is fast, his punches powerful and his angles of attack mesmerizing. He's got strategy too. He absorbs hits and waits until the right moment to unload a barrage of punches. Incredible fight! I give credit to both fighters for their mutual respect of each other before and after this fight.
Special thanks to Ryan and Ann for inviting us over. We had a great time! We enjoyed dinner and boxing with Ann's parents, Angel, Gian, Ate Belle and of course, Ann, Ryan and Avery.

Veterans Day
This day we honour the men and women of all branches of the military. We honour their bravery and sacrifice for this country. Thank you dear brothers and sisters!
This day was once known as Armistice Day commemorating the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month in 1918 when WWI ended.
In 1953, Al King, a shoe store owner in Emporia, Kansas pushed forward the idea of expanding Armistice Day and celebrating all war veterans. With the help of a KS lawmaker a bill was pushed through Congress and later signed by President Dwight D. Eisenhower.
Other parts of the world observe this day still calling it Armistice Day. Commonwealth Nations refer to it as Remembrance Day.

London's Underground Tube

See the photo in the middle? It looks like a bunch of sewer pipes doesn't it? It's actually different levels of stairways and escalators of the Tube near Westminster Station. And check out the two photos of escalators. They are as steep as they look in the photos!

Elections 2009
Local elections were held 3 November 2009.
Doesn't have quite the appeal nor the impact as other elections but needless to say I did my civic duty and voted.
Interestingly a new feature for voters was an option to vote for your first-, second- and third-choice candidates.
I don't know how this all works, but from what I gather seems like a long drawn out process. It's definitely not instantaneous. It'll be awhile before we know who wins.
Read below for the process:
"If no candidate receives more than 50% of these first-place votes, a process of eliminating least-popular candidates begins.
During that process, election workers re-distribute the votes of least-popular candidates based on the second and third favorites on each ballot.
Votes go to remaining candidates in rounds until a winner is declared.
This means the first-choice votes above are preliminary and unless a candidate achieves a clear majority, another candidate could ultimately win this race."
